We wipe off any greasy or cheese dishes with paper napkins or paper towels. We have been married 51 years. We stash our flatware in a large peanut butter jar filled with detergent like Dawn liquid. Our best friend worked for the commercial line Hobart Food Equipment. He taught us this method of having flatware soaking, not drying with food. Our Bosch is located about 40 feet from the hot water heater. The Bosch heats the water to scalding during the wash and rinse cycles. I followed the instruction manual and never block the left side wall, where there us an exit fan or something similar. The only thing I would change it to provide more clips for the top rack, for lightweight plastic lids. The silverware or flatware basket that is intended for lower pull-out area is not needed. I place any long utensils along right side of top pull out basket and wedge them under the edge of a bowl or mug. I disassemble and clean the filter screen and flat screen about once every 3 months. Occasionally, I add 1 cup of white vinegear to a final hot rinse (about 10 minutes before the end of an Express cycle of 30 minutes. This is similar to cleaning a drip coffee maker. I run a rinse only cycle after using the vinegar treatment. Our Bosch is probably about 5 years old. I run my Kitchen Aid mixer bowl and Pyrex baking pans through the DW. The only caution I would add is cheese! It can gum up on the round filter under the flat screen filter. Always scrape or wipe off cheese from baking dishes. Since my husband is retired and not traveling internationally, I actually cook more homemade suppers. So we use the DW more now than ever.
